Eco Styler Gel causes cancer?

How sway? I been using this gel for the past 5+ years. I woke up to Eco Styler Gel trending on Twitter. Apparently, there’s info going around saying it contains carcinogenic ingredients. They saying they done took out the alcohol but kept the cancer. Fix it Jesus! One of the most popular gels,of all time, has been increasing my chances of getting cancer. One must ruminate on these allegations.
I attended the Talia Wajiid World Natural Hair show this year. Of course I had to stop by the Eco Styler booth. I mean who doesn’t love eco styler gel. It’s so bomb. And the booth? They were lit! They had music playing, a dj on the mic, people giving out samples. It was a good vibe. They were promoting a new product with Canabis. Well, I don’t know about you but I really like Eco styler. My favorite is Olive oil. Plus, it's always good to do your own research.
So Eco styler gel contains the ingredient Triethanolamine. Try saying that out loud. Triethanolamine or TEA is said to be carcinogenic. If you’ve read any of the ingredients on the back of hair and beauty products, you may have seen this hard to pronounce defendant. What exactly is this? Scientifically speaking, it’s a byproduct of ethylene oxide and ammonia. In the hair and beauty industry, it’s used as a surfactant, according to Pub Chem. Surfactants are both hydrophilic and hydrophobic molecules . They have a love/fearing relationship with water. They’re also polar and non polar. These properties makes TEA favorable in hair products since it allows interaction between water and water soluble ingredients. They can also bring oil and other water insoluble ingredients together. Guess what though? This ain’t science class. We need to get to the bottom of this.
I read a case study on toxnet.nlm.gov. It has all kinds of scientific lingo. I will leave the link below. Basically, trials were done on both female and male mice. There was evidence of some carcinogenic activity in the mice. However, it went on to say that there was “inadequate evidence in humans for the carcinogenicity of Triethanolamine.” Furthermore, “Triethanolamine is not classifiable as to it’s carcinogenicity to humans.” That’s all I needed to read. I can look up headache symptoms on Google and think I may have cancer.
So yes, they do put this ingredient in our hair products. Honestly speaking, what chemicals are not in things we use on our bodies everyday. They’re in soaps, toothpaste, and even the foods we eat! You can read on the government website, it’s not harmful to humans. I’m not saying this is okay or promoting chemical use on your hair. I have been learning more and more about all natural products. With knowledge comes better choices. I’m just being realistic. I been using it for some time now. I’m healthy, my kids were born healthy, they’re still healthy. Life goes on. What are your thoughts? Please leave them below. Blessings!
